Symposium CC

Advanced Polymer Surfaces, from Advanced Surface Treatment to Dynamic Surfaces to Paint

This symposium aims to bring together experts from academics and industries of diverse disciplines, from physics, chemistry, surface engineering and nanomaterials to discuss their latest research activities and industrial applications, as well as to provide a platform for potential collaborations in the following exciting topics.

  • Surface polymer functionalization through approaches including layer by layer deposition, surface-initiated polymerization, gas-phase deposition, and electrodeposition;
  • Surface functionalization via the application of coatings (paints), and in particular coatings which dynamically structure to provide advanced functionality, e.g. self-stratify;
  • Polymer surfaces with dynamic surface nanostructures, e.g., exhibit programmable and/or controllable shape changes which provide advanced functionality;
  • Characterization of dynamic polymer surfaces;
  • Functional surfaces including anti-fouling surfaces, self-cleaning surfaces, and responsive surfaces;
  • Smart coatings which self-repair and/or indicate damage;
  • New developments in coating science.
